Abdullah Celik has worked at Data Respons Solutions in Norway for almost a year now.
Abdullah, how did you get into engineering?
Like most people in engineering, I had a childhood fascination with math and science. However, during my teenage years, I was somewhat uncertain about my future career path so I opted for a “Specialisation in General Studies” in upper secondary school which allowed me to choose from a range of programs later on.
For a couple of years, I tried out various classes in economics, political science, sociology, law, and philosophy. I realised that none of these were the right fit for me. I decided to pursue social sciences and started to look for engineering programs.
I discovered that there was an opening for a Bachelor’s program in electronic engineering in Horten. As I progressed in the program, I found it more aligned with my interests, and I continued my education by pursuing a Master’s degree in micro- and nano systems technology.
When did you know that this was what you wanted to do?
During my time at university I was particularly drawn to the idea of explaining complex natural phenomena with simple formulas and demonstrating them through practical experiments. I found working in the electronics lab to be particularly enjoyable, as I was able to apply what I learned in the classroom, to simple experiments in the lab. I find problem-solving very rewarding, and I get to do that a lot as an engineer.
What motivates you?
What I find most fulfilling is the chance to solve complex problems, while continually expanding my skills and knowledge. I’m passionate about delivering value to our customers and I take pride in contributing to their success. Additionally, I’m always seeking out opportunities for growth and self-improvement, both on a personal and professional level.
